MERCILON CONTRACEPTIVE PILLS – 28’S

Mercilon is a combined oral contraceptive pill that contains two hormones: ethinylestradiol (an estrogen) and desogestrel (a progestogen). It is used to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thickening the cervical mucus to block sperm, and altering the uterine lining to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. Mercilon is typically taken daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break during which a withdrawal bleed occurs, similar to a menstrual period. In addition to preventing pregnancy, it may also help regulate menstrual cycles, reduce menstrual pain, and improve acne.
